What is RetroSpace?
RetroSpace is a singleplayer first-person immersive sim set in 2177 aboard Aurora 5, a city-station swallowed by a sentient black hole, launching October 1, 2026.
RetroSpace is a singleplayer first-person immersive sim about surviving a space station that has been eaten by a black hole. It is not a shooter with stealth options bolted on, and it is not a horror game where you are meant to be helpless: it is a systems game where every obstacle was designed to have more than one solution.

The premise, from the official material
The year is 2177. Humanity's last hope is the AURORA fleet — a convoy of floating space stations looking for a new home, with the population spending the centuries of transit in deep sleep while robots, androids and a small human crew keep watch.
One of the gigantic city-ships derailed off its course, was drawn into a black hole, and now drifts in the void. That ship is Aurora 5. Its corridors are infested with mutants, its systems are jammed, and it is constantly jumping back and forth between two time periods.
You play the Nameless Man, a janitor who was not supposed to be the hero. The official line — "you were but a simple janitor, now you are the last hope of all humanity" — is the whole pitch: no training, no weapons locker, just a station full of tools and something very wrong with the timeline.
What kind of game it is
| This | Not this |
|---|---|
| Immersive sim with interconnected systems | Linear shooter with scripted set pieces |
| Multiple solutions per obstacle: stealth, hacking, diversions, traps, hidden routes | Single intended path with a fail state |
| Meaningful death: cloning is a mechanic you manage | Death as a reload screen |
| Metroidvania-like, interconnected station you reopen as you go | Level-select structure |
| Disco-punk retro-futurism with dark humour | Grim, self-serious horror |

The setting details that actually matter in play
- Aurora 5 is one building, not a level list. Areas connect, shortcuts open, and there is a mostly peaceful central hub you can return to when you need to stop being hunted.
- The station moves between two eras. The official material describes the ship as constantly jumping between two time periods — the same corridor is not the same corridor twice.
- The mutants are hybrids. "Weird animal and plant hybrids" is the developer's own wording, and the official site adds that every enemy is completely distinct, with its own behaviour, abilities and weaknesses to learn.
- Security is a resource. Turrets and security stations are described as extremely deadly unless you find a way to turn them into allies.
